Eduardo Ocadiz, our founder, grew up in a family where healthy eating and conscious living were part of everyday life. As he prepared to graduate from university and step into the professional world, Eduardo noticed a challenge many people face: wanting to eat better without spending hours in the kitchen. He wanted to create delicious, healthier options that anyone could enjoy—whether they followed a plant-based diet or simply wanted to explore new flavors.

That’s how Benji Gourmet was born—offering versatile, tasty, and accessible vegetarian options inspired by the rich flavors of Mexican cuisine. Our mission is to make it easy for everyone to enjoy the vibrant taste of Mexico while making choices that are better for their health and the planet. Whether you’re fully plant-based, flexitarian, or just curious, our products are designed to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle. For years, Eduardo managed everything on his own, as many entrepreneurs do. Then, in 2015, Tanya joined the journey. With her experience and fresh ideas, she helped expand Benji Gourmet’s reach, sharing its mission with more people. Together, they worked to make vegetarian Mexican food more accessible, showing that you don’t have to compromise on flavor when choosing plant-based options.

In 2018, their hard work paid off when UNOVIS, a fund specializing in innovative companies creating animal-free proteins, invested in Benji Gourmet. Today, we’re still growing, bringing the best of Mexican flavors—now with delicious vegetarian twists—to more tables across Mexico and beyond.
